BIOGRAPHY: L A.L.I.
A.L.I. aka Prince Ali is an Arab American Hip Hop producer who was born in the Middle East, and moved to the Unites States in 1996. He is currently a student at the University of San Francisco majoring in Economics.
A.L.I.’s music is not just a hobby, but a way of life. During the past few years his music transformed from a weekend hobby to a form of self-expression and an exhibit of personal thoughts through music. A.L.I.ís musical journey began late 2006 when he purchased an MPC 1000, and started chopping up samples from various songs. This style of old Hip-Hop production gave him a solid understanding of how beats should flow and a general idea of sample based beats. This sparked a creative fire within him, and later progressed to producing original music strictly on a keyboard and MPC, creating and playing his own pieces.
A.L.I. describes his beats as catchy and fun, yet thoughtful. His diverse background and experiences all over the world are evident in the unique style of the different beats he has made. Many times he creates Hip-Hop and Rap beats using melodies and samples that are influenced or derived from old Arabic songs. Combining these melodies with Hip-Hop based drums brings on a fun and engaging new sound. Although A.L.Iís heart is in Hip-Hop and Rap production, he has recently ventured out to new genres such as House and a mixture of Techno style melodies infused with up-tempo rap style beats. Currently A.L.I. is working on his own beat C.D. titled the Ministry of Slap, projected to release in Summer 2011.
A.L.I.ís main influences are The Alchemist, Kanye West, RATATAT, Daft Punk, and Stoupe from Jedi Mind Tricks.
